24 hours of The G & T Show

The G & T Show – it’s all about story, characters, and Star Trek

24 Hours of G & T: Hour 22 is now available to download. Check it out here. Janice joins us during this hour of our fundraiser for a couple of new installment of Life Pod One and other discussion topics. Nick provides us with a brief mission statement for his Gettysburg Address show we will be launching soon. Also, we give away the Ship of the Line Poster Set and the 2016 TOS Wall Calendar.

We return from our break. Nick announces that Janice will be joining us later. Terry announces that the sun is rising in New Mexico. Nick is doing ok and Janet is present but has to do school work when she finishes with the show. Steve has been up for 55 hours so far but claims he’s doing good. Mike is starting to hallucinate. His alarm just went off and its time for him to get up to prepare for the show. Terry thanks Mike, Steve, and Janet for everything they do to support the show. A new donation comes in and before Mike gives us an update on our total, he has to do some maths. Meanwhile, Terry talks about episode 212 which will be the final two hours of our fundraiser. She goes on to thank our listeners for supporting our show by listening or donating, or just being there for us. It means a lot to us.

Mike is ready to announce our current total. We congratulate AliMac for his donation. He will receive the TOS Magnetic Salt and Pepper Shakers and the Star Trek Mug. Arrangements will be made to give them to him at STLV this year. The donations this hour brings our total to $1160.17. We talk about where the donations are going. They will be covering only our server costs to keep us operating. We decide what prizes to give out this hour and decide to go with the Ship of the Line Poster Set and the 2016 TOS Wall Calendar courtesy of CBS Licensed Products. Terry describes the prizes for us. Mike updates us on the status of our five-way tie for the STLV 2016 Commander-Level Ticket. We thank everyone that donated prizes to our fundraiser, which included: Mike, Janet, Terry, Nick, Star Trek Online, CBS Licensed Products, Johnny Snowball, and Jen Usellis.

Nick states Janice will be joining them and as per Steve’s request, he decides to offer a brief mission statement for his upcoming show: The Gettysburg Address. Janice got a little sleep but has been listening to the show throughout. We thank her for letting us (Nick) take over her house for the show. Allen is still sleeping and Terry doesn’t want to wake him up so he can talk about some of the poll results. However, there will be plenty of opportunities to do over the course of the next year.

We decide to do a LifePod One. We choose to do one on Engineers from all of the series. Trip, Scotty, Miles, B’Lanna, and Geordi. Mike is taking B’Lanna. Janice is taking Tripp. Terry wants Geordi. But we have to figure out who we are going to leave behind. They discuss each of the characters and their reasoning for taking them or leaving them behind. We eventually make our decisions. Mike and Nick would choose to leave Geordi behind. Deyvid talks about Geordi’s visor as both a tool and a detriment. Deyvid eventually drops Geordi. Steve and Terry chooses to leave Trip behind. Terry eventually changes her vote to Geordi. Janet agrees. A few people in the chatroom would keep Geordi. We go back and forth. In the end, everyone reluctantly agrees to leave Geordi behind.

We decide to another Life Pod One, this time focusing on Captains, but not focusing on the standard five. Mike suggests Harriman and everyone immediately leaves him behind. Mike goes through a list of characters, most of which everyone points out is dead. He tries to clarify that they are pulled from their timeline five minutes before their deaths. The list grows very quickly. We have a difficult time trimming it down. We end up just naming Captains at random. We decide to drop it and try another.

Nick suggests a Life Pod One with just Vulcan characters and discuss each of them as we go. We start naming every Vulcan we can think of. We end up with too many of them to choose from. We end up abandoning this attempt at a Life Pod One. Looking for a Life Pod One to do, Bad Admirals was thrown out because it would be difficult to pare them down as well. Ali Mac suggests a Life Pod One for pets. We start naming pets, including: Neelix (Barclay’s cat), Porthos, Livingston, Christina (O’Brien’s tarantula), and Spot among others. Terry admits to writing a story about Livingston from his perspective that was worth a few laughs. We get a request to name alien parasites. We start naming alien parasites. When Mike says what parasite would you like to be infected with. They discuss a several options.

Nick changes the topic to the alien species from the novels. He likes the Kinshiaya. Deyvid mistook them for the Skor from the animated series. Jen Usellis drops by the chatroom to watch the freak show. They decide to it’s a good time to take a break in advance of the upcoming show, which turns out is still another hour away. We didn’t receive a new donation this hour, so we decide to roll the prize into the next hour and add the TNG Season 8 Warped book to our prize package.

Mike Medeiros is a great storyteller in his own mind. He’s been known to put words to page and sometimes, he even turns them into audio stories for himself, his friends and the occasional stranger that stumbles upon his stuff by accident. He has written, writes, and will write for Gates of Sto’vo’kor, Blood of the Neirrh, Star Trek: Starfinder, The Klingons of Long Island, Reality’s Edge, and Zygerus. Some of his stories and other writings have materialized on websites and forums for the G & T Show, Priority One, ScienceFiction.com, Star Trek Online, and even Star Trek.com. He’s written a few playable missions for Star Trek Online and has even had a couple of them spotlighted. He keeps saying he’s working on a novel, but is he really? A comic book is more likely. If only he could make money flinging ink at the screen, he’d be a happy camper.

But, wait. There’s more.

He is the co-owner of Busy Little Beaver Productions and is the producer and co-host for G & T Show and Gates of Sto’vo’kor. He’s directed voice actors, and produced and edited audio podcasts and dramas because he doesn’t have the face for video. He plays well with others and is always on the look out for the next project, the next thing, the next next. If he wasn’t working on something with a half dozen other projects waiting in the wings, somebody please check to make sure he’s still breathing.

During the day, he’s a mild-mannered computer repair man who dabbles in web design in his small, rural, Central California community. He lives with his lovingly dysfunctional family and loyal canine companion and spends most of his time in the closet concocting some hair-brained scheme or another. He’s got an unhealthy obsession with Lego video games, Klingons, and Star Trek Online that borders on the neurotic.

Despite all this, he still finds the time to write the words. Find out what he's doing here.
