G & T Show 47 – Are we ever going to talk about Star Trek? is now available for downloading. Give it a listen here. Nick, Teri, and Mike are back with an all new show. Oliver and Gingerbrit join them in the studio. This week they discuss a new Ask Dayton, Star Trek Las Vegas Update, Star Trek 12 Movie News, Prometheus, and eventually, their worst and best episodes from all seven seasons of Star Trek The Next Generation in celebration of it’s 25th anniversary and the availability its first season on Blu-Ray.
This week’s show opens with Teri recounting to us her experiences from the highly successful 2nd Albuquerque comic expo and explaining to Nick the layout and atmosphere of the city. For those unaware, Teri will be taking a cruise with her husband, Alan, later this year and leaving Nick in charge of her house and dogs.
Moving on from Albuquerque, Nick tells us about his Saturday activities, watching both ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ and ‘Prometheus’. On Snow White, Nick goes out of his way to praise the visuals and casting of the film, with the exception of Kristen Stewart, whom Nicks describes as “having the range of a rock”. Yet despite these praises, he recommends waiting till it comes out on DVD or HBO.
Moving on to Prometheus, Nick starts out by praising the sheer visuals of the film, recounting a tweet he sent not long after calling for post-production 3D to be made illegal after seeing Ridley Scotts work, He also comments on how one of the characters reminds him of Cerb, a claim Mike can certainly back up.
Moving onto Ask Dayton, Teri opens up this week’s segment with an enthusiastic “Do me now!”, raising roars of laughter from our co-hosts and providing us with a new sound bite for our show into. This week’s Ask Dayton builds on the discussions of last week with Oren of All Things Trek over the inclusion of children aboard the enterprise and Dayton’s apparent dislike of Nick.
With this week’s Ask Dayton complete, the cast go onto discuss the US armed forces, discussing everything from Dayton’s time in the Marines, Cushmanzada in the air force and the Coast Guards in Idaho. Moving on, Nick brings up a resent blog posting by Andrew Wonders entitled “This year, a video game and some podcasters saved my life”, detailing how Star Trek Online and its related podcasts have helped lift him out of a very hard time. For more details, check out Andrews post here at http://shorttext.com/WFwFfL
After issuing their thank yous to Andrew for his kind words, the cast begin discussing the stigma attached with being a Star Trek fan and how the JJ film has helped lessen it somewhat with the “coming out” of several prominent Hollywood figures. Before moving on too much, Mike talks to Nick and Teri about how working on this show and the STO community has helped him. On the subject of STO, with Nick proudly proclaiming that the Caspian division starbase will have a greatest interior design ever.
Drifting back towards Prometheus again, Nick comments about how he wishes Ridley Scott could direct Star Trek and prompting a passionate discussion with Mike and Teri over various directors and their takes on the show, including Christopher Nolan, Kevin Smith, Jon“ Favreau, Joss Whedon and Seth McFarland.
Realizing that they’ve been on the air 47 episodes, the crew begin discussing plans for their 1st anniversy show later this month. While Cerb checks up on livestream, Nick grills Teri on her Voyager rewatch. Sadly though, she still hasn’t moved on yet. Teri comments on Malcolm McDowell resent ripping on The Avengers,” “Star Trek,” Stanley Kubrick, Peter Sellers and Hollywood.
Finally free of all the trek news and tribbles, the cast reach the main topic of this week’s show. With the TNG 25th aniversy fast approaching and the special screening of remastered 1st season episodes, the G&T crew celebrate by discussing their favourite and worst episodes of all seven season of The Next Generation.

With their lists complete and starting to run long , our cast decide to try and close up the show but not before taking the time to make some very important shout-outs and reminders. Sori makes the call to our listens that Gates of Sto’vo’kor is looking for additional audio engineers, writers and even a new host for their up-coming third season. Cerb reminds us that the G&T Show is now back on iTunes, while Teri reminds us about the audio drama contest and to keep posting fan fiction in the forum, closing up this week’s show with another thanks you to our show note writers.
