My suggestion for this weeks show title is “Mama Lynn and Great Penis Cozy Surprise”.
We open this week’s show with our crew debating their attire for Star Trek Las Vegas, with suggestions from Hawaiian shirts to paisley tie, while Nick talks about his latest writing project, editing the Orion Kama sutra
We kick of this show by jumping straight into convention news. For STLV, it has been announced that Cirroc Lofton will be attending the convention and will be present in the vendors room throughout much of the convention. In addition, the attendees for podcasters row has been confirmed, with Starbase UGC, G&T Show, Priority One, Gates of Stovokor, and STOked attending the convention. Sadly though, Tribbles in Ecstasy will not be joining us this year. The crew also discuss their plans for merchandise to give away at this year’s convention, including business cards, fridge-magnets and even Mardi Gras beads. Nick also makes a promise to Sori that if he can fix his failing hard drive, that he will treat our favourite Klingon to the legendary Sci-fi brothel in Nevada. Teri also takes the time to remind our listens about her Discussion with the Devs panel, where she will be moderating a panel with the developers of Star Trek Online.
In more convention news, the cast move onto discuss the issue of Star Trek London. Although no new attendees have been announced, it has come to light that Nana Visitor and Rene Auberjonois will be preforming a show together, which our crew highly recommend seeing. Teri also takes the time to plug Nana’s Kitchen Witches youtube series.
It is just as we are finishing our convention news that we are joined by a special guest, Xander of Tribbles in Ecstasy. Nick takes the time to find out why our friend will not be attending the convention, as well as grilling him as to what hockey his loyalties lay.
Before we move onto our next topic, Nick takes the time to wish all those affected by the Auroa shootings the very best in their recoveries and remind them that our thoughts are with them during this difficult time. With those thoughts expressed, Nick and Xander move onto the topic of the new film, The Dark Knight Rises, which has earned a huge amount of praise from Nick, who was initially sceptical of the casting of Ann Hathaway as Catwoman but has since come to change his mind and going so far as to even add her to his laminated list.
Next we move onto this week’s Ask Dayton, who this week has to ponder the answers to an intriguing variety of question, including crossovers he’d like to see, what kinds of stories does he enjoy writing most, and what can loyal readers do to earn shout outs in his books. The answer to the latter raises an impassioned discussion between Nick and Teri over the idea of holding a raffle or a compition for charity, with the prizes including a cameo role in a future Dayton ward book.
With our ask Dayton complete, Teri leads us along an intriguing squirrel trail discussing comic books. It’s turned out that our Teri has officially joined the comic book community with her first subscription to a comic book series, namely the new Captain Marvel series. This leads to a discussion over Marvel portrayal of strong women in their tittles as well as asking our other co-host about their first comic book subscriptions
Next, we move onto our Listener mail. Our first letter this week is from Bazag over the topic of Star Trek crossover ideas and suggestions on an execution of a Star Trek/Fringe crossover story. Our next letter is from G’hargh, of Gates of Stovokor, who too also offers suggestions for crossover ideas, as well as plugging a ST/Babylon 5 fanfic called Clash of Federations by RenS. Following G’hargh, we have a letter from the one and only GingerBrit offering his voice for Star Trek Reunion. Next, we have letter from Oren of All Things Trek regarding the issue of ‘Reset buttons’ in Star Trek stories, the issue of inter episode continuity and the apparent lack of it in Voyager
Following Oren’s letter, we have another letter from Christopher13, who too provides our cast with more ideas for crossovers and providing us with a link to the very old trek site You Can’t Do That On Star Trek! Our final letter this week is from our very own Oliver, suggesting charities our show can support in future. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to leave them in the charity suggestion thread in our forum.
With listener mail complete for this week, we move onto more trek news. The website, Trekcore, has been working with Mike & Denise Okuda to help confirm the authenticity of several Starfleet uniforms soon to go under the hammer. In addition, Terkcore has also managed to secure an interview with the couple. If you’re interested in reading the interview, just head on over to Trekcore.com. On the heels of the Okuda interview, Teri also tells us about the unbelievable happenings at San Diego Comic Con, where the one and only Neil Degrasse Tyson made an appearance during the Starship Smack down panel and successfully argued on behalf of the original Enterprise to defend her honour, and leaving Teri totally bummed that she was unable to attend
With our trek news and listener mail complete, we move onto Teri’s voyager Watch. This week, Teri and Alan have managed to watch Random Thoughts, Concerning Flight, Mortal Coil and Waking Moments. For the most part, Teri and Alan enjoyed these episodes, with the exception of the Random thoughts, feeling annoyed by the aliens stupidity in not warning the Voyager crew about their most basic law. Following that, we get to hear Teri’s views on Neelix’s spirituality in Mortal Coil, feeling annoyed by the ending and the writers inclusion of the possibility that there may be an afterlife.
With our main topics, the cast begins to wrap up the show. Sori talks about Keith R. A. DeCandido and the return of his podcast, Dead Kitchen Radio, as well as a discussion by the author on writing the IKS Gorkon novel series. We highly recommend giving a listen if you have the time. Next, we wish actress Louise Fletcher and our own Cushmanzada a very happy birthday. Nick reminds us of the upcoming show coming live this year from Shoreleave in Baltimore, Maryland. We end this show with a few quick shout outs from Sori and Xander to plug their shows, Gates of Stovokor and Tribbles in Ecstasy.
