I submit unto you the topics of the Prime Directive, extinction, and the first few minutes of the new movie. Terry worships “natural evolution” including extinction as her atheist substitute for God and as a consequence the Prime Directive means we’re always wrong, let the species die, and fuck ‘em. I argue that the Prime Directive is about preserving the intact cultures of sentient species, which logically means that Starfleet should make every effort to prevent their extinction, because if a species ceases to exist, the rest is irrelevant. Your turn…
Dear Dayton: Die Hard is one of the best movies ever and Star Trek is one of the best universes ever. If you were to write a novel based on Die Hard in the Star Trek universe what would it be called and what would be its major plot?
Dear Dayton: I was just wondering: what are your feelings on the Timecop-style organizations we see in Voyager and Enterprise? You know, the Captain Braxton/Crewman Daniels guys? Some people think that they add a valuable dose of interesting sci-fi to the franchise while others (namely me) tend to think of them as poorly thought out continuity errors that make no sense. Where on the scale do you fall?

Dear Dayton, Recently, Trekdom celebrated one of their biggest holidays of the year, First Contact Day. As an author that plays in the Star Trek universe fairly often, what did you do for First Contact Day? Was there a parade? A reenactment of that unforgettable moment when the human race comes face to face with a being from another world (starring your children perhaps), followed by anti-matter Fireworks at sunset? Please, do tell. Also, to help get the creative juices going. We saw how Janeway celebrated First Contact Day. How do you think the other Captains we’ve seen in Star

Dear Dayton: If you were given the chance to script doctor Star Trek V, can you tell us what changes you would make? Also, if you could for Star Trek: Nemesis, what would you do to improve it? I feel that Star Trek V had some good ideas and moments, but it fell so short, as did Nemesis. Also, choosing from characters across all the series, can you give us your idea of the ideal bridge crew (and if you wanted to put someone like Kurn as the XO or Ops office, cool!)? Thanks Dayton!
