G & T Show 159 – Get Gorny With Sunseahl

G & T Show 159 - Get Gorny With SunseahlG & T Show 159 – Get Gorny With Sunseahl is now available to download. Check it out here. This week Terry is away and Nick and Mike are joined by Sunseahl. We discuss what’s new in the Star Trek Universe in Star Trek News, the latest from Star Trek Online, What’s on our Bookshelf, Destination Star Trek, and more.

We start off this week’s show with a guessing game for our studio audience as to the identity of our special guest joining us in Terry’s place this morning, Sunseahl. We talk about what we’re watching, reading, and what we’ve been doing for the Coffee Clatch. Nick is watching Orphan Black, and Mike is watching Under The Dome. Sun has been watching Voyager in preparation for STO’s Delta Rising and we discuss Voyager for a little bit. Mike has been writing and continues editing the upcoming two part Starfinder episode – Gorn of A Different Color. Nick rages about his recent experiences with a smart car.

We kick things off talking about What’s on our bookshelf. Mike is reading Michael A. Martin‘s Typhon Pact: Sieze the Fire with the crew of Titan featuring Tuvok and the Gorn. He explains how well it follows up with the last book he had read The Lost Era: The Sundered by Michael Martin and Andy Mangles. And speaking of Gorn, Mike shares his progress with editing his Starfinder episodes. Sunseahl plays a Gorn named Shlist in the episodes. Nick tells shares with us that he has finished reading the second book of Seekers. Sun has been reading the chat and hasn’t been doing much reading. Nick has started reading Rachel Judd’s Rain of Ash, which Adrianne had recommended last week.

Jen Usellis drops by the chatroom and we quickly discuss the progress of her kickstarter, the Klingon Pop Warrior Project. She has successfully funded her project and is now working toward her stretch goals, including Pat Benatar’s Love Is A Battlefield. Before departing, Jen reveals that she’s going into the studio this morning to record all six songs for the album. So, please support this project.

We jump to Star Trek News, where we have a lot to cover, beginning with the news that Orci is saving the Power Rangers to work on Star Trek. Nick asks if everyone saw the Millenium Falcon video with the Batmobile in it? Mike follows up with the news that shooting on Star Trek 3 will begin in mid-February.

Changing the subject to Star Trek Comics, we talk about the New Vision Comic Series and the latest book Made Out of Mudd. Mike is excited about The New Adventures Vol. 1 of the first 12 comics in the reboot series. The third part of the Q Gambit is coming out this week. The final comic we talk about is the upcoming five book Star Trek and Planet of the Apes series beginning with The Primate Directive.

In other publication news, the upcoming Star Trek Magazine Special for 2015 and all of the interviews with new and old trek actors. Sunseahl points out the current Star Trek poll asking which Star Trek Captain would you want to be with during a zombie apocalypse. We talk about some of our choices, before pondering Matthew McConaughey as a Starfleet Captain. We move on to discuss the new eNovella coming out featuring the true story behind Picard and Beverley’s wedding with Q Are Cordially Invited. We speculate who Q’s guest would be. Another photo from the Ships of the Line Calendar was released this week featuring the USS Planck. We finish up Star Trek News with the Star Trek: In Concert and their expansion beginning with their dates in Australia.

And speaking of the 2009 and Into Darkness movies, Mike mentions that the Official Starships Collection will be releasing the Vengeance soon, followed by a couple of non-Starfleet ships as seen from Enterprise. And Mike got his K’Tinga. Nick asked if there was someone to play his life in a movie, who would it be. Mike’s response: the guy from Lost, Jorge Garcia. Nick chooses Vin Diesel would be his choice, but ultimately choose Joey Lawerence. Sun chooses Kate Mulgrew, but Mike suggests Alex Kingston.

We move on to Star Trek Online with the big news first, the launch date for Delta Rising. Mike shares that he has not only reached level 51, but is now level 55 with the help of the double XP reward and the Dividian NPC on the Dyson Sphere. Mike loves what they are doing with the Vaadwaur in Delta Rising. They talk about the changes to the PVE Queue that we will be getting with Delta Rising, including the precision teamwork that will be required with Elite mode and they’re concern that Elite will be impossible with PUG groups. During the discussion of the rewards for the new queues, it provides them an opportunity to talk about the upgrade system and the ability to upgrade equipment to Epic Gold quality. They move on to the release of the Dauntless to the Delta Rising Operations Pack and their hope that the Dauntless will be considered an alien vessel rather than a Federation only ship.

Nick tells us about what he’s been doing in game and his progress in the reputation system. Mike moves us forward mentioning the STO article featuring Neelix. They then, discuss the ship art article behind the design of the new Intelligence ships that are coming to the game. We talk about the Delta Reputation system and the console on Drozana Station on Tribble that will help you test the Reputation system.

We move on to the Convention News with what is new at Destination Star Trek, where there is a lot of new news, including Daniel Stewart, Patrick Stewart‘s son will be attending. We also got more information about what STO will be doing at the Convention and Mike’s hope for some phaser tag with the Devs. Star Trek Timelines will be attending. There will also be Klingon Language lessons with new words, and even Klingon cosplayers in character walking the convention. There was no mention of the Romulans being in attendance. There are also contests and giveaways including a chance to win a Star Trek gaming chair, and even a sort of Star Trek Bake off, and so much more.

Finally, Steve mentions the article they released about how to prepare for the convention. Mike reminds everyone that we have a Supplemental Log that discusses how to prepare for conventions. This is the convention to attend, if you’re living in Europe. Steve tells us about the cosplay he will be doing at the convention and hopes that it will arrive in time.

Sun spends some time telling us about Starfinder and begins by telling us about episode 2, which should be out by the time this show goes live. Mike tells us about his work on episodes 3 and 4 and the role Sun plays for us. She even gives us a sneak peak at the voice she does. Nick answers a question from the chat room about a new Ask Dayton. He’s still working, and once he gets an opportunity, he will send us an answer to a new Ask Dayton question. Mike reveals that Commedia Beauregarde will be providing a Klingon song for episode 4.

Mike explains that he will be going on a trip throughout most of the month of October and will be unable to work on Starfinder while he is away, so he’s trying to get as much of it done before he leaves. However, he is confident that he will be able to record and edit the G & T Show while on his trip.

G & T Show’s GoFundMe Website Upgrade Fundraiser is still going on. We’ve surpassed the $100 mark for this fundraising term, bringing our total to date to $1300 since we’ve started tracking our donations. Please donate if you can, and share our fundraiser. If you’re an Amazon user, please use our link to help support the show. We end the show with Sun’s Facebook Fan page, and all of the social media sites where you can find the G & T Show. We send our love, gratitude, and support to our Social Media director, Jespah.

Mike Medeiros is a great storyteller in his own mind. He’s been known to put words to page and sometimes, he even turns them into audio stories for himself, his friends and the occasional stranger that stumbles upon his stuff by accident. He has written, writes, and will write for Gates of Sto’vo’kor, Blood of the Neirrh, Star Trek: Starfinder, The Klingons of Long Island, Reality’s Edge, and Zygerus. Some of his stories and other writings have materialized on websites and forums for the G & T Show, Priority One, ScienceFiction.com, Star Trek Online, and even Star Trek.com. He’s written a few playable missions for Star Trek Online and has even had a couple of them spotlighted. He keeps saying he’s working on a novel, but is he really? A comic book is more likely. If only he could make money flinging ink at the screen, he’d be a happy camper.

But, wait. There’s more.

He is the co-owner of Busy Little Beaver Productions and is the producer and co-host for G & T Show and Gates of Sto’vo’kor. He’s directed voice actors, and produced and edited audio podcasts and dramas because he doesn’t have the face for video. He plays well with others and is always on the look out for the next project, the next thing, the next next. If he wasn’t working on something with a half dozen other projects waiting in the wings, somebody please check to make sure he’s still breathing.

During the day, he’s a mild-mannered computer repair man who dabbles in web design in his small, rural, Central California community. He lives with his lovingly dysfunctional family and loyal canine companion and spends most of his time in the closet concocting some hair-brained scheme or another. He’s got an unhealthy obsession with Lego video games, Klingons, and Star Trek Online that borders on the neurotic.

Despite all this, he still finds the time to write the words. Find out what he's doing here.
