G & T Show 187 - Lil Mike on the floor

G & T Show 187 – Lil Mike on the floor is now available to download. Check it out here. Terry is back from her work trip, Nick didn’t have shooty time after all, Mike is in the Land of Enchantment, and Steve is present to help produce the show while Mike is away from home. This week they discuss Star Trek News, Movie News, Star Trek Online, an STLV Update, and so much more.

After resolving some technical issues, the shows starts off with Gettysburg7 (Nick) talking about New Mexico, taxes and a geek map of the USA. Talking about the geekiest states started Nick and Terry talking about USA geography, before Soriedem (Mike) tells us about his flight out to New Mexico and how he was delayed getting his flight due to problems with the plane, but our cuddly Klingon managed to get aboard a working plane to eventually join Terry. As Mike tells us about his adventure, he talks about the man he was seated next to who had “amazing green eyes” and how he just wanted to stare lovingly into them!

Terry then asks how Steve is and thanks him for doing the backup recording for the show. She explains how Mike has been relegated to another room in the house with her doggies (hence the background whining!) due to the technical difficulties they had experienced.

Nick then starts talking about how great the new DareDevil is and the discussions continues about how gruesome it is and if it might not be something Terry would like. This conversation moves over into the characters and the stars playing them. This is followed by what the crew thinks these stories and characters might take the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which soon squirreled off into talking about other actors and shows including Nick’s mention of a photo he saw of Bill Murray at Elvis’ funeral!

Star Trek News is kicked off with Terry asking if the news had been covered while she’s been away. Nick said that Mike was attempted to keep things … sane and on track, despite members of Club 602 trying to derail the show. Terry asks whether they had seen the Star Trek: Renegades trailer. Nick thought that it was Steve that brought it to their attention. Mike wasn’t saying much as he was playing with his little Mike, I mean mic on the floor!

After some giggles, Nick moves them back on topic saying how hot the Romulan woman is. Terry still is not a huge fan of Renegades as the physical darkness of the film is too much. With the dogs barking after wabbits out the window, Mike tells us how the discrepancy between the quality of the ground scenes and the space scenes disappointed him.

After some bad Back to the Future impressions, the crew talk about some rumors surrounding the 13th Star Trek film due out next year regarding Sofia Boutella being cast. The discussion heads into which species she’d possibly be portraying. Terry is pleased they are looking at the UK for their casting.

Terry brings up the news about the new Star Trek Emoji for IOS Devices that needs to be unlocked. The chat room brings Nick back to Star Trek 3 where they start talking about who should play villains and Mike says he doesn’t to see a person of color being chosen as the bad guy in the film.

Allen brings Terry the news that Brent Spiner is in Independence Day 2. Casting calls for the film are being held in New Mexico as ID4-2 is being filmed there. This is followed by Terry talking about an article from The Hollywood Reporter titled “When Will ‘Star Trek’ Get a Cinematic Universe?” and how CBS could do more with Star Trek due to the time they’re based in and the optimistic tone that the franchise represents that Marvel, DC and others do not. Mike thinks they can pick an era in the Star Trek timeline and follow different aspects of it with NCIS/West Wing like stories. Terry suggested an episodic TV show based on a ship and its crew, while Netflix then could tackle things like the Starfleet Medical angles and other story lines. Nick wants to see more stories like the TNG episode Lower Decks and stories told from the perspective of other crew members. They laugh at the idea of a Star Trek Online TV series based on Duty Officers and their missions!

Terry moves on to the next piece of news of Kate Mulgrew’s new memoir ‘Born With Teeth’ from Entertainment Weekly. The discussions shifts to Star Trek Product News with Star Trek Starfleet Academy Ladies Fitness Pants. They squirrel off into the Golden Girls LEGO set and the news of Fox remaking Rocky Horror as a TV movie. Nick and Terry talk about going to see the show for the first time and what happens to the “virgins”.

We next move onto convention news. They announced that the rumor of the TNG crew not attending STLV is false as Frakes, Sirtis and Dorn are now set to attend. Terry says that Jonathan Frakes will be a speaker at the con and Mike hopes he does his own version of Nerd Court. STLV now has 76 guests. Terry mentions the new additions. Nick is disappointed that there is still no Cox! Terrys says that he won’t be there since he will be in Ireland. Terry hopes to go to Ireland someday to see Ronny Cox.

Star Trek Online News is next up. Terry starts off by asking about the STO rant from a couple of weeks ago. Nick has tried to play the game. After spending three hours patching the game, he was still unable to play the game due to some issues. Steve joked that it was probably the game getting back at him for all the insults!

Terry has been loving the Delta Recruit event and she’s rolled three new characters (one for each faction). She thinks that the story is setting up the Temporal Cold War. Steve states that he has 6 Delta Recruits, some of which were low level characters he recreated as well as a couple of new characters. Terry and Steve also discuss the need to remember the “Delta” part of the missions to avoid rerunning the mission later to get the Iconian Technology or data. Terry is also enjoying running a new Klingon since it’s been years since her last run through the tutorial and early content.

Mike tells us he has 2 engineers that he’s playing; one is a Fed at level 53 or 54 and has already completed all the Delta Recruit jobs. He found it to be a lot of fun. With his Klingon, he has noticed that many of the non-shared missions have different information from the other faction. Mike says his Klingon Delta Recruit is level 51 but he’s only reached the Cardassian missions. He thinks that he’ll be at the Breen series by the time he hits level 60. Terry thinks that he’ll hit 60 when he gets to one of the spheres due to the amount of XP required from 50 to 60. Terry, Mike and Steve continue to discuss some changes to the storyline so they have a better flow.

Terry remembers some forgotten Star Trek News. Star Trek.com had a poll for National Pet Day regarding favorite pets in Star Trek. Terry was disappointed they forgot about Jean-Luc Picard’s fish (Livingston), yet included Isis the cat. So they changed the poll and discuss which pet they then would have chosen.

Mike is then asked about announcements, but as he is not home he cannot think of any! Terry inquires about the contests and if anyone has submitted any entries into the Absent Enemies contest – so far there have been none. To win an autographed copy of the Star Trek: The Next Generation: Takedown, you need to be the first person that identifies Terry’s favourite scene in Star Trek: Titan: Absent Enemies.

Terry asks about the #WhyIGnT contest – Mike says that the team has to sit down with Janet as she has everything figured out and they need to do as she tells them. Mike also reminds people that for a chance to win Star Trek: Catan, listeners that attend conventions are challenged to get a celebrity to say that they never listen to the G&T Show.

Terry announces that she will not be here for the next three weeks so there will be others on the show taking her place. Nick reminds people that free comic book day is on May 2nd. The topic then squirrels into Agents of Shield and its storyline, characters and possible future spin-offs. This squirrel leads into further discussions about Marvel and DC characters and their humor. Nick mentions how he had to see Guardians of the Galaxy twice at the cinema as he missed parts of it due to the raucous laughter of the audience!

Breaking new- This just in! Terry gets an email from StarTrek.com announcing brand new calendars for 2016 (despite it only being April). The news is so new, that Steve cannot even see it yet on StarTrek.com’s homepage!

Terry calls time on the show and double checks with Mike that he’s not remembered any new announcements. She thanks Steve for recording today and Nick thanks him for keeping quiet! Mike thanks everyone for joining us and Terry says she’ll see everyone in May and the rest of the crew will see you all next week. Until then, Live Long and Prosper bitches!

He’s been known to put words to page and sometimes, he even turns them into audio stories for himself, his friends and the occasional stranger that stumbles upon his stuff by accident. He has written, writes, and will write for Gates of Sto’vo’kor, Blood of the Neirrh, Star Trek: Starfinder, The Klingons of Long Island, Reality’s Edge, and Zygerus. Some of his stories and other writings have materialized on websites and forums for the G & T Show, Priority One, ScienceFiction.com, Star Trek Online, and even Star Trek.com. He’s written a few playable missions for Star Trek Online and has even had a couple of them spotlighted. He keeps saying he’s working on a novel, but is he really? A comic book is more likely. If only he could make money flinging ink at the screen, he’d be a happy camper.

But, wait. There’s more.

He is the co-owner of Busy Little Beaver Productions and is the producer and co-host for G & T Show and Gates of Sto’vo’kor. He’s directed voice actors, and produced and edited audio podcasts and dramas because he doesn’t have the face for video. He plays well with others and is always on the look out for the next project, the next thing, the next next. If he wasn’t working on something with a half dozen other projects waiting in the wings, somebody please check to make sure he’s still breathing.

During the day, he’s a mild-mannered computer repair man who dabbles in web design in his small, rural, Central California community. He lives with his lovingly dysfunctional family and loyal canine companion and spends most of his time in the closet concocting some hair-brained scheme or another. He’s got an unhealthy obsession with Lego video games, Klingons, and Star Trek Online that borders on the neurotic.

Despite all this, he still finds the time to write the words. Find out what he's doing here.
