G & T Show 188 – Deep conversation!
G & T Show 188 – Deep conversation is now available to download. Check it out here. Terry is away, Nick and Mike are joined by Janet and Steve. This week they discuss Star Trek News, Movie News, Comics, Star Trek Online, an STLV Update, Star Wars, and so much more including a very deep conversation!
This week Terry is on a little boat, so in her stead, Mike (Soriedem) leads the show with Nick (Gettyburg), Janet (Jespah) and Steve (MidNite Shadow). Nick started the show with an announcement that he will be leaving … don’t worry it is just for 3 weeks for more shooty time! They then play with the live audience about where it will be – it is no longer in Germany!
Jespah tells us she is doing some final projects so don’t worry if strange things hit the twitter feeds! Nick then asks who saw the premier of Orphan Black season 3 – nobody else had so while we waited for the chat room to catch up Mike says he’s been rewatching Agents of Shield and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which for some strange reason he’d not seen before!). Nick then gets back to Orphan Black and says how much he loves the show. We then move back to Gettyburg’s deployment where Nick says he’s angry he’s missing free comic book day, but he is happy that he will still be around to see the Avengers movie and because he is away it will be a while until he can talk about it so people get a chance to see the film. Steve says we can always talk about it next week as he’ll be seeing it in a few days, but Nick was not agreeable to that idea! Mike says that he thinks he might see the Avengers film if he can figure out where the cinema is.
Nick then announces that Steve has a job for next year, but Steve plays dumb (not a hard thing to do!) – he is to look at getting the G & T Show nominated for the annual Podcast Awards.
We then move on to Star Trek News where Mike has news about Star Trek celebrities. The first item on the docket is that Christopher McDonald has a new show called The Squeeze – StarTrek.com has an interview with him where he also talks about almost being Riker and being in Yesterday’s Enterprise. The next story from StarTrek.com is about Joel Grey who recently turned 83 and about a couple of the things he’s done that includes Star Trek Voyager. Mike then announced that DS9 alum Alexander Siddig will be appearing in Game of Thrones – although Mike is not sure how long he will survive! Talking about Alexander Siddig reminds Nick about when he had his big surgery where he said he’d want Pulaski operating on him with Bashir helping out. This became a discussion about the character Julian Bashir.
Black Magnum joins the chat and Mike squirrels off talking about how he had Mac and Cheese and before that he had a Grilled Cheese Sandwich – Mike preferred the Mac and Cheese! Things then turned to how Mike loved the food so much he messed his Jeans … where he spilled the food (get your mind away from the gutter!).
Nick tries to bring things back on track; Mike tells us about the new Star Trek Live in Concert dates throughout June to November all over the US. Nick remembers he has some news, not Star Trek news, but some news, except he cannot remember what it is! Nick finally remembers that it was about the new Star Wars trailer. Everyone thinks that it visually looks good but Nick has concerns about if it will make sense on a story level. The discussion goes into games, toys, merchandising and Disney. Nick wants to see a good console game from CBS. In more Movie News, Nick says he’s excited about Olivia Munn being cast in the new Xmen film.
Mike moves us into some Star Trek Movie News with information that Sofia Boutella has been cast for Star Trek 3. Nick and Mike then bring the discussion towards talking about the the trailer for Superman vs Batman that has dropped. This leads into talking about how dark the movie looks and Nick wonders if there is going to be much humor in it.
We now move into Book News and Nick announces that he has John Jackson Miller’s new book that he’ll read during his deployment. Mike tells us the Star Trek Green Lantern crossover has been green lit along with some other comics when Nick tells us he’s cancelled his Star Trek comic subscription! This brings us into how good the comics now are and their strengths. Nick doesn’t like all the crossovers.
Next, we head into Product news where we start off with a small squirrel on scooters that manages to find its way back to Star Wars before Mike tells us about the new TOS coin pouches that are out and ThinkGeek has some new t-shirts.
Mike brings us directly into STLV news where Nick realizes that they’ve revamped their website. Mike tells us that Jerry Ryan is now attending. Mike and Nick go through several names of people – they cannot remember if they previously announced – are attending and finally add that Larry Nemecek, Doug Drexler and Roxann Dawson have all been added to the bottom of the list.
Talking about Roxann Dawson brings us into Star Trek Online news as Mike has issues with Tom (Robert McNeill) and Miral Paris (Lisa LoCicero) being added into the game without any announcement yet of Roxann joining them, so Mike wants to know “Where the hell is B’Elanna?”! Steve mentions he thinks it would be cool to have a Tom and Harry moment in the game where they get themselves in trouble or something to do with Captain Proton.
Nick brings up the question about whether or not STO is on life support due to a message from Black Magnum. The gang then talk about the story lines and lag. Steve talks about why he thinks that people are discussing that STO is on life support.
Mike brings up that Season 10 is launching on April 21st but also that he is unhappy with the new Tier 6 ships coming out – he thinks that they are actually Tier 5U. Mike shows he’s angry about this and has a little rant! We then move into the new Xindi lock box where Steve mentions that the original lock box is renamed and the new one is call Xindi Terrestrial lock box.
We then move back into Star Trek News with the item Mike wanted to leave until nearer the end of the show where the team talks about ‘The best Trek Lesson’ based on the question StarTrek.com is asking fans. After Mike reads out what was posted on the StarTrek.com site. This is where the team starts one of their deepest conversation ever. We won’t go in to too much detail as you really should listen to this. Mike also reads out what Grim, Black Magnum and Matthew Anderson have said in chat on the topic. This discussion leads the team in to talking about Social Media and followers and following numbers that the chat room participates in.
As many of the crew need to go potty, things are wrapped up and everyone says farewell when Steve scares everyone playing a Wookie noise! Until next week, Live Long and Prosper bitches!
Steve will also, on occasion, guest host on the main G&T Show.
In real life Steve works full time in IT providing desktop support, creating web sites, databases and anything else that that needs an IT solution!
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, reading Star Trek novels, playing Star Trek Online, podcasting, audio editing and watching science fiction.
