G & T Show 275 – Star Trek Fantasies
Star Trek fantasies? Don’t worry; it’s nothing dirty.
G & T Show #275, Star Trek Fantasies, is available for download here.
So with Terry and Allen away, Mike takes over the Albuquerque studio and Janet returns for some semantic shenanigans as Nick reveals his Star Trek fantasies!
After introductions and basic social stuff and coffee klatch, we got into our show.
We talked about the new show coming out, and how CBS Has No Official Release Date For ‘Star Trek: Discovery’. So, should ‘Star Trek: Discovery’s’ continuous delays alarm fans? We don’t think so. Because we suspect a lot of care is going into the show. Furthermore, it’s the internet and social media which give us so much behind the scenes dirt. Sometimes, you neither want to nor need to know how the sausage is made. In addition, we learned that CBS’s streaming service CBS All Access gained movies. As a result, there are more reasons to subscribe than just the new Star Trek series.
Our next stop was general news.
First of all, there’s some gossip, as Star Trek Beyond Stars Chris Pine And Sofia Boutella Might Be Dating! So while that feels rather tabloid-y, we recognize fans may be interested in just that.
In other general news, the Orlando Philharmonic beams up out-of-this-world musical fun as Star Trek themes rule the day, even when it comes to corners of the art world where you might not expect that.
Did you know that a hilarious Star Trek Protest was held at a Star Wars Celebration? Can’t we all just get along?
And finally, the Sunshine State strikes again, as a Florida TV station commits ‘ultimate saga sin,’ and gets mocked from all sides.
Personally, I am not a fan of this speculation, but some wonder: why Kirk Should Become A Father in Star Trek 4.
We learned that Star Trek Online: Season 12 – Reckoning Debuted On Consoles.
We were thrilled to hear that a new medical device, The ‘Star Trek’ Tricorder Comes To Real Life [Video]. Also, special Eyewear Allows the Legally Blind to See (and Play Basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters). Sounds a lot like Geordi’s visor, eh?
Stories about new Star Trek swimsuits dominated product news.
Red Star Trek SwimsuitsThe Mary Sue said: These Star Trek Bathing Suits Are the Only Bathing Suit I’ve Wanted to Buy in Years. Treknews noted that: Star Trek TOS Bikinis Arrive In Time For Your Own ‘Shore Leave’ This Summer. And finally, io9 wrote: Beam Down to the Beach in these Red Star Trek Swimsuits at Your Own Risk.
We noticed that an expectant couple edited Star Trek: The Next Generation Into an Adorable Baby Announcement. Furthermore, we discussed Axanar, which is moving to the Atlanta area after a failed IndieGoGo crowdfunding round (see Semantic Shenanigans for more details).
We caught a preview of Star Trek/Green Lantern Vol. 2 #5. In addition, we found a comic book review of Star Trek: New Visions: The Traveler.
Nick asked a rather interesting question about, say, if you had an infinite budget, which kind of new Star Trek show would you want to see? He followed that up with: if you could revive any old science fiction property for a reboot, which one would you select? Mike and I gave rather different answers (we are from dissimilar generations, after all). Listen for the details!
Finally, thank you for listening and I apologize for the delay in getting this blog post out!
