After coffee klatch and our usual introductions, Nick, Mike, and Steve got down to it. In addition, Terry and Allen are still on vacation and massive allergies attacked Janet.

Television News

First of all, we looked at television news. So TrekNews reported on [TNG at 30] The Secret Life of ‘Trek’ Pets.

Star Trek: Discovery

First of all, Star Trek: Discovery recasts Klingon amid flurry of new additions. In addition, we heard that Star Trek: Discovery just keeps beaming aboard more crew. So it appears that casting is coming along nicely.

We heard the potential writers strike could impact shows like Walking Dead, Star Trek: Discovery. In addition, the WGA members voted for strike authorization, and Star Trek Discovery writers voiced their support.  However, by the time we released this post, the strike had been averted!

Book and Comic News

So he learned how Tasha Yar returns to Star Trek: The Next Generation In The Mirror Universe For Free Comic Book Day. In addition, we checked out the history and fate of the NX-02 Columbia.

Unofficial Productions

We learned that the ‘Star Trek Continues’ Fan Series will debut its newest episode at Silicon Valley Comic-Con.

Movie News

Eek! We heard that Zachary Quinto didn’t know anything about Star Trek 4 and everyone flipped out. Except we figure he probably must keep quiet about the upcoming film. Silly reporters!

However, Star Trek 4 is no guarantee says Zachary Quinto. So which one is it?

Finally, we saw an article asking whether Star Trek 4 should begin planting seeds for TNG.

General News

We found a lot of interesting news goodies with a Star Trek bent this week.

So check out the build of the week: a Star Trek shuttle. Also, this ‘Star Trek’ shuttle computer mod – gorgeous!

In addition, here’s the Star Trek Tricorder that won the $3 million Qualcomm Xprize. Also, beam us up, Scotty: Boise store unveiled a replica Captain Kirk chair.

Furthermore, we heard a teen created her own Trekkie starship crew.  Also, Manitoba revoked a ‘Star Trek’ licence plate they deemed offensive. Uh, okay.

Finally, we learned “Remembering Leonard Nimoy” will make its TV premiere in May.

Space News

Also dovetailing with this week’s discussion about planetary exploration (particularly Mars), we saw some great news stories. So apparently NASA experts say they won’t Follow Star Trek’s ‘Prime Directive’ when exploring other planets. Of course in all fairness (spoiler alert) Star Trek is fiction.

In addition, we heard speculation that Mars will be colonised by Star Trek-style genetically modified super-humans, according to scientists.

Gaming News

First of all, you can now get Star Trek: Online: “Escalation” on PC and Mac. In addition, we caught this in-depth look at the Tactical Role in Star Trek: Bridge Crew. So, what are some of your favorite Star Trek-related games?

Product news

As always, product news will show up in this month’s roundup but we have a few new items to whet your appetite.

First of all, we caught great coverage of a bilingual Star Trek game you can play in either English of Klingon. We saw reports from io9 and Trek Today about this great new game.

Furthermore, are you a philatelist? So you might have heard that Canada Post will come out with more Star Trek stamps.

Also, Nerd Reactor covered last month’s product roundup feature about ThinkGeek’s new Star Trek swimsuit collection.
