G & T Show Shore Leave 2015 Coverage – Marco Palmieri

G & T Show Shore Leave 2015 Coverage – Marco PalmieriDuring the 2015 Shore Leave convention, the lovely Janice sat down with Editor Extraordinaire, Marco Palmieri.

He first started coming to Shore Leave at the behest of the Star Trek tie-in authors as they kept telling him what fun they had been having and how great it was (and is) to connect with the fandom.

He makes a lot of decisions about going forward with projects. A lot of the projects he is closely drawn to are the ones that evoke an emotional response. What is an emotional evocation? In a way, it’s a bit of magic.

His most recent projects are with Tor Books, but he is constantly editing and has a number of books in the works for several properties, and not just the Star Trek franchise. The hardest thing for an editor to do is to actually find time to edit!

He originally got into the business as a marketing person for DC Comics. He became close to a senior editor and, when she went to Simon & Schuster, she was hiring a junior editor and encouraged him to apply.

When asked which of his characters he would toss into a holodeck program – he chose Elaine, a necromantic lawyer from Max Gladstone‘s Craft Sequence, into the world of Dixon Hill! He thought she would chew the scenery and have fun going after the bad guys.

Please be sure to purchase Marco’s great work through the below links, as they will provide a small bounty to the G & T Show at no additional cost to you and no loss of credit or profit to Marco. Thank you!
