We loved talking to Gary Graham, who played Vulcan Ambassador Soval on Star Trek: Enterprise. Plus he’s a funny guy! Gettysburg7, Terry Lynn, and Ross from Live, Love, Play had fun hearing about Gary’s new band, Sons of Kirk.

It’s All About The Rock

So it’s Star Trek, comedy, and rock and roll – Gary wants it to be amusing. First, the idea arose from a discussion with his agent, Lolita, about three months prior to the convention. She told him that conventions are always looking for musical entertainment. He just sort of tossed off the idea and realized he had funny Star Trek lyrics for classic rock tunes. The idea is to rock out but still be funny. He feels the fans will love it. He and his band are playing for three nights at Star Trek Las Vegas 2016, at the Voodoo Lounge. Creation Entertainment is very excited about his band!

Getting the Band Together

He has played the venue before. But then he realized he didn’t have either a band or songs! He took notes from the old episodes and began to write Star Trek-themed lyrics. And then he took the songs he knows and added the parody lyrics to them. Then Gary contacted his lead guitarist and a bass player he really likes. Then they got a terrific drummer. He is very excited about this venture and wants to expand it and try to get to play cruises and the like.

All About the CD

The first song on the CD is to the tune of Johnny B. Goode and is called Sons of Kirk. Live Long and Prosper is to the tune of Life in the Fast Lane. Bruce Springsteen’s Pink Cadillac is now The Green Girls of Orion! His lyrics even comment on there being no seat belts on the Enterprise!

Plus he is having a fantastic time and does not believe he has ever seen so many happy people together, all in the same place. Finally, the fans are just terrific and he and his band are up for their next venture.
